The First Year and the Evil Senior: พี่ว้ากตัวร้ายกับนายปีหนึ่ง

SOTUS, Rule 10: No secrets in front of senior

The stage is set…the lights are set…but Kongpop isn’t set yet.

“Hello, audience! The long-awaited Campus Moon and Star Contest is now officially open!”

Kongpop heard the applause and screams of the hosts after the two transvestite sisters started the concert, it’s hard to stop, it’s obvious that there are a lot of audience outside. Another reason why there are so many people here, is because after the Campus Star Competition, the faculty also invited a popular band to perform, as a concert to end the whole orientation activities with a successful conclusion, so tonight can also be called “Freshmen Night” but not only the freshmen but also the seniors and juniors from all grades came here to have fun and enjoy themselves, as well as to cheer for the representative of their own faculty who will participate in the Campus Star Selection. Therefore, every eye outside will be watching the arena at all times, as everyone is waiting for the moment when the suspense will be revealed.

…but what’s happening in the arena is not what Kongpop, backstage, had in mind.

To be frank, he wasn’t very confident that he’d win Campus Moon and Star. After all, the Star of the Campus competition is not like a sports competition, it’s a team effort. Although there will be a collaboration with the Miss Campus representatives, the final selection will be based on each individual’s performance, so it’s just one person fighting alone and Kongpop is under pressure to make a promise, a promise to someone.

It’s no one’s fault this time. He was too quick to say anything but he had to make a statement in front of the head hazer. If he loses the game, he’ll use himself as an excuse to punish all the students… it’s not a big deal if he’s the only one who gets punished but if he gets everyone else involved… it’s really heavy to think about.

…Now Kongpop is wondering if he really thought it through when he made that promise just because he wanted to flirt with her…

The first thing that Kongpop noticed was that he was nervous and it was probably too obvious.

“Nong Kong, you’re nervous, look at your face, you’re all wrinkled up, that’s not good, we need to smile and if we can’t smile now, then think about the prize, I hear this year’s winners are very generous, if we win, it’ll be great, little brother.”

…if he wins?…right, if he wins, he’ll do what he wants, although he doesn’t know what he wants yet but just the thought of him being angry makes the corners of Kongpop’s mouth turn up, of course, Mini can see all the changes in Kongpop’s expression.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk… he’s smiling at the mention of the prize, he’s a fan of money too but that’s the right smile, just enough to charm them to death.”

“Is the faculty ready! Ready to play oh.”

The staff backstage is rushing the stage and Mini is pushing Kongpop and Miss Campus representative Prepaillin to the stage, cheering them on.

“Go, all of you, come on!”

The lights went down and it was time for Kongpop and Prepaillin to perform. Kongpop took a look at the audience below and although it was hard to see the person standing on stage, he knew that, no matter what, that person would come. He took a deep breath and the only thing he needed to concentrate on now was…

The show is about to begin…

“I don’t usually see you in such a good mood, what’s the matter today, is the sun beating down on you and you wanted to drag us along to the game.”

As Prem said this, Arthit was opening his mouth to eat the roast pork meatballs he had just bought. The group was standing on the top of the hill away from the stage and the freshmen seats but close to the snack bar, which sold smoothies and snacks. But the crowd was sporadic now, having flocked to the stage to see the Faculty Star’s performance. Arthit, on the other hand, doesn’t look like he wants to see the show, for the following reasons.

“I just wanted to come to the concert later.”

“Oh, oh, oh… it’s just a concert, hey, I don’t know who it is but they’ve been trying to get me here since 6:00.”

When he heard his friend’s ridicule, Arthit was a bit shocked, because it was almost six o’clock when he finished class and he did call Prem to go to the basketball game as soon as he got out of the classroom, he didn’t even have time to change out of his uniform and he didn’t bother to eat, so he just thought to get something to fill up his stomach. But even if Prem was telling the truth, Arthit wouldn’t be willing to let Prem complain and tease him, because Prem himself wasn’t much better.

“You know, you’d like to see it yourself, I just called you to come alone and look at you, you’ve brought ten assholes.” I just called you to come alone and look at you.

Prem didn’t know what to say, so he took a meatball from Arthit to ease his embarrassment and then racked his brain for a reason to continue his tirade against Arthit.

“I brought them here to put pressure on the juniors! Who would have thought they’d actually win the sports day, it’s a real slap in the face, if the faculty stars win again, we’ll be in trouble.”

“Well, he can’t win.”

Arthit put it down straight away, like he was winning.

…the sports day can cheer you on but if you want to win the faculty star, it’s going to be hard. Like Kongpop that kid can’t have any outstanding talent to show, face value is not so good, I can assure you that he will not win and he doesn’t know how much he dares to come to me and play games with me, when you lose I’ll punish you to do something shameful in front of the whole faculty, you’ll never forget it Wait and see, 0062!

“Please enjoy the next performance by the two participants from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering!”

The voice of the host on stage interrupted Arthit’s train of thought and the lights dimmed accordingly. Despite the distance, Arthit felt the screams of the pheasants and the applause when the spotlight hit the Mr. and Miss of the campus representative.

Unlike the other faculties who wear suits with chicken feathers and sequins and look like flamboyant whores, Kongpop’s outfit was simple: a bright shirt and dark jeans. His partner Prepaillin, too, looked as fresh as a strawberry shortcake in a sweet little dress with a flower garland headband.

“Hello everyone! We are the representatives from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering. The next talent we are going to showcase is singing. If you can sing, please sing loudly with us!”

…my God, I thought it was going to be something big but it’s just a song and I underestimate the audience’s intelligence.

Arthit laughed, his attention shifting from the stage to another set of roast pork meatballs, which he was pulling out with his mouth, while waiting for the song to come on.

“…many wishes in my heart, how wonderful it is to have them come true, only Doraemon can make my dreams come true…”

The familiar melody accompanied Arthit throughout his childhood, because it was the theme song of the cartoon” Doraemon”. The TV, tied to the Cartoon Channel 9, just to watch this cartoon.

“…every day is the same, with the occasional whim, With Doraemon’s dream, it’s infinitely longer.

Share with me when I’m happy, be there when I’m sad, Just dig into his magic pocket and forget about his troubles.

Seek the treasure of legends, venture far away, Ho, ho, ho, Doraemon and me… make dreams shine…”

Kongpop and Prepaillin interspersed their songs with one another, which caused a lot of screaming and cheering. Suddenly, the band teacher changed his tune and went straight into another song and although it was just the beginning, some people were already screaming, because they soon realized that the next song was an English song that everyone knew very well.

“Young man, there’s no need to feel down.

I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.

I said young man ‘cause you’re in a new town

There’s no need to be unhappy.

It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.

It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.

They have everything for you men to enjoy, You can hang out with all the boys…

It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.

It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.

You can get yourself cleaned, you can have a good meal, You can do whatever you feel…”

Arthit was stunned by the scene unfolding in front of him, silently cluttering up the hilltop.

To be honest, Kongpop and Prepaillin’s vocals weren’t that impressive but their ability to get the crowd going and interact with them was commendable, because it was hard enough to get the crowd’s attention in a few minutes but they still managed to get everyone involved in their performance without making it awkward.

Soon the rhythmic melodies stopped, the lights dimmed and the crew brought up a chair and a guitar while Kongpop spoke into the microphone in the middle of the stage.

“Are you all tired? Then we’ll take a break with a slow song, our last song and sing along if we have the energy.”

At first Arthit thought that Kongpop was the one who was going to play the guitar but then he took the guitar from the staff and handed it to Prepaillin who was sitting on the chair and started tuning it. Arthit said that he didn’t understand the routine of these two guys, isn’t it usually the guys who play guitar and the girls who sing? But the switch caused another round of screams from the audience and once again, this new format attracted everyone’s attention. In anticipation, the bright and clean guitar accompaniment with Kongpop’s deep and soft baritone voice, like a warm current, quickly hit everyone’s ears.

And this is the song that Arthit must listen to in silence.

“Stare, stare at you for a long time, I don’t dare, I don’t always dare to look you in the eyes.

Afraid that one day you’ll know the truth I’ve been hiding from you.

The secrets I’ve buried, I’ve never told anyone but I can’t stand it any longer.

The closer I get to you, the more I can’t help but reveal my feelings to you.

The more emotion we feel when we look at each other, the harder it is to bury this love.

In your secret, is there a me too? Please tell me, let me know.

I’ve been thinking about what you said to me, all alone, in my head, Because of you, you’re the best person in the world. How long will it take me to say the word” love”?

The secrets I’ve buried, I’ve never told anyone but I can’t stand it any longer.

The closer I get to you, the more I can’t help but reveal my feelings to you.

The more emotion we feel when we look at each other, the harder it is to bury this love.

In your secret, is there a me too, Please tell me, let me know.”

With the last note and the applause of the audience, the performance of the Industrial Engineering Faculty came to a perfect end and the host followed the flow of the stage to do the intro.

“The Industrial Engineering Faculty performance is over, baa…I’m sure that the performance must have hit some audience’s heart, next I want to interview these two contestants, why did they choose to sing these three songs?”

“We chose these three songs because each of them reflects three different stages of our lives. The first song is from our childhood memories and the second song reflects the fact that we’re coming of age and that we’re old enough to have a crush on someone.”

Kongpop’s answer, especially the last sentence, triggered another round of screaming, the answer was both romantic and provocative and the girls and women at the scene were not able to resist at all.

…but in reality, the real reason behind it is a million miles away from the romantic answer people thought. The reason they chose these songs is because Prepaillin only played Pause’s “Secret” as a test prep in high school. As for the other two songs, Kongpop suggested them because he thought everyone would have heard them before and that they would be well received by the audience and that they would be able to sing along, which is why he suggested them to Mini. He started to practice the song and followed Mini’s instructions to keep the atmosphere as active as possible and keep smiling.

Although Arthit was at the top of the mountain, after the show, Arthit could still feel that Kongpop and the others had won the hearts of their fans from the overwhelming response of the audience. Even Prem, who was on the sidelines, said this.

“At this rate, the show will definitely advance in this round.”

Arthit’s brow furrowed, momentarily losing interest in eating the balls, he handed the bag with the balls in it to the person next to him, his mouth still agape.

“It’s just one more round and there’s a question and answer session.”

Although the words that came out of his mouth were still full of contempt, there was a hidden concern in his heart.

He almost forgot that it’s always Kongpop’s skill to be slick but always save his own ass. If not, how could he dare to talk back when he’s still training the freshmen? The jury is all over him.

As expected, both Kongpop and Prepaillin entered the final five with leading scores.

For the question answering session, both of them put on their clean faculty uniforms and stood on the stage in order, ready to draw questions at random.

“Next up is Kongpop from the Industrial Engineering program!”

Kongpop reached into the box and drew lots, he drew a note with the number 7 on it, he then handed it over to the host with the envelope of questions, the atmosphere was like a beauty pageant.

“Well, the problem with Kongpop is…”

The host deliberately paused here to let the contenders come in to create a tense atmosphere, the audience was also quite cooperative, not daring to breathe, just waiting to hear the next question.

“What is your opinion on SOTUS as an orientation system, should it be abolished or not and why?”

The risk of answering such a sensitive and informative question was high, as the

The Sotus System was the hottest topic of the day. It was even more difficult for Kongpop, who happened to be in an industrial engineering faculty that still adhered to this tradition, to answer the question. He knew there were people who were on SOTUS but at the same time there were many more who were treading on the system, as he had done from the beginning. So, a lot of people are sweating for Kongpop, because if he doesn’t get it right, it’s a suicide question.

Kongpop was silent for a moment, the images of the past flashed through his mind like a movie, as if there was a little black man and a little white man fighting in his head. But in the end, Kongpop decided to follow his heart and answer the question.

“I believe that all systems in the world have their good and bad sides, like the two sides of the same coin but it’s all about how we use them. The

The Sotus System also has its good side, it teaches us how to unite with others. We all come from different backgrounds and we all graduated from different faculties, so welcoming people to SOTUS brings us closer together. However, if the people who implement SOTUS don’t use it properly and are too violent, then the new students will be disobedient, disrespectful and may even get into arguments if they are not careful. Therefore, I can’t answer whether the

Sotus System should be abolished or not, because it depends on the motives of the people in charge of the system but one thing is for sure. We’re just hoping that the rest of our faculty life will be full of possibilities.”

Although Kongpop didn’t make any choice in his concluding remarks, his answers were always on topic, clear and well-reasoned and he added his own real feelings, which made the audience applaud.

Arthit watched Kongpop on the big screen and bowed to the audience after answering the question and returned to his previous position. After that Arthit deliberately turned away from the match, leaving Prem without any explanation and walked towards the other side of the field. Prem could only ask the question by shouting in hindsight.

“Hey! Arthit, where are you going?”

“Well, I’ll be right back.”

The person in question answers and then speeds away from the group. No more listening to other faculties’ answers, no more watching last year’s Star of the Campus homecoming show, which was set up to give the judges points.

It’s finally the moment we’ve all been waiting for but before we get to the big announcement, let’s start with the small prizes.

“Next to be revealed is the Most Popular Award!”

The Most Popular Award is selected by votes from the audience and other organizations in addition to the jury, such as student clubs, alumni associations, etc., to select their favorite Mr. and Miss Campus. This year’s Miss Popularity Award went to a female contestant from the Faculty of Education.

“As for the Most Popular Boy award, he’s…”

The live sound effects further heightened the tension and then, the name announced from the host’s mouth was…

“Mr. Kongpop Sutthilak from Industrial Engineering Faculty!”

Kongpop was stunned but it wasn’t until the biggest spotlight hit his face that Kongpop realized he should have come forward to accept the ribbons, dolls and a bunch of mall discount coupons. The photo was then taken amidst congratulatory applause but who knows, right now Kongpop’s heart is filled with worry.

…it’s nice to win the Most Popular award but it doesn’t mean that Kongpop has won the contest, because over the years, the Most Popular winner is different from the Campus Star winner, because there are other contestants to take care of. So, this means that Kongpop’s chances of winning Campus Moon and Star are even slimmer and he might actually lose to someone this time.

As the hosts announced the other awards one by one, without Kongpop’s name, disappointment began to consume Kongpop, until the Miss Faculty Award was announced.

“The winner of Miss Campus 2556 (calendar year 2013) is, Miss Prepaillin Pudtiasom from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering!”

It’s no wonder that the stage shook with the applause and screams from the freshman area of the faculty of Engineering, because Mini had told him that it was very difficult for the faculty of Engineering to win the title of Miss Campus, as it was usually eliminated by the language faculty.

Kongpop also applauded and congratulated his friend. Although Prepaillin didn’t have any other glamorous aura compared to the other contestants, her cute face, sweet smile, no fuss and intelligent answers were well-deserved for the title.

After the presentation of the awards and the group photo, the whole venue was quiet again, as everyone waited with bated breath for the last award of the night to be presented.

“Finally, the winner of Campus Moon and Star for the year 2556 (2013 calendar year) is…”

Kongpop sighed…never mind…he did his best but he’ll accept whatever punishment Arthit wants to give him. Although he still felt a little pity, because after all, he was the one who got what he wanted from Arthit. Kongpop had already made up his mind and didn’t expect anything else. He watched as the lights on the stage dimmed and as the music grew faster and faster, the winner was finally announced.

…and suddenly a chasing light hit the winner on the darkened stage.

“Mr. Kongpop Sutthilak from the Industrial Engineering Faculty!”

The winner of this award looks incredulous and immediately looks up.

…is this a joke? I can’t believe he’s won the Most Popular and Campus Moon and Star awards all by himself!

Although Kongpop didn’t get it for a while, he didn’t have to, because by the time he did, he was already wearing a ribbon and a wreath and his arms were full of prizes, along with the flashbulbs that were pointing at him. The freshmen in the freshman area of the Faculty of Engineering were already on their feet, beating the drums and celebrating with joy. Because up to this point, the Faculty of Industrial Engineering had won all the prizes in the Sports Day and Campus Star Awards, which was a great honor and pride for the entire freshman.

As the Campus Moon and Star competition came to a close, the contestants left the stage to make room for the staff to set up for the rest of the concert. As soon as Kongpop descended the stairs to the ground, he was swarmed by people asking for photos, including Mini, Kongpop and Prepaillin’s honorary mentor, who squealed as she rushed over to hug Kongpop and watched her two children win the title, she can’t help but weep with joy.

Campus Moon and Star was dragged to take pictures with the crowd, laughing until his mouth was cramped and couldn’t stand it any longer so he decided to find a corner to hide and rest.

…because this is the man who made the bet with Kongpop.

He didn’t expect to meet her so soon but it seemed that she was waiting for him and she didn’t want to run away. So Kongpop went over to the seniors and gave them a bow in accordance with the

Sotus System. He was sincere but there was a mystery behind his words.

“I won.”

“Well! Got it, what do you want from me?”

Right to the point, right to the point, the hazer. But the look on his face is not good, because he’s the loser. Since the other side is so clean and straightforward, Kongpop won’t beat around the bush.

“Then I’m going to…”

Arthit’s heart was beating fast, not because he was nervous but because he was scared, because he thought Kongpop would make him do something that would tarnish the hazer’s image but in any case, a man of Arthit’s stature would have to give up the challenge.

So Arthit, despite his fear, looked at Kongpop without blinking, waiting for the verdict from the victor.

“…I want to save it for now and tell you about it next time.”

Ha!? What the hell! Save it for later, I’ve been stressing out here for nothing and that’s the end of it! (You’re telling me this with your pants down?) No wonder Arthit is going to blow up.

“What the hell! What the f-ck, if you’re gonna say it, say it!”  but before Kongpop could answer, a scream and cheer came from the front desk, followed by a jazz song played by a famous band from the faculty. While listening to the song, Hazer suddenly heard a voice asking him.

“Did Phii think the song was good?”

Kongpop changed the subject and also changed Arthit’s mood. Arthit, who was angry just now, was confused by the question but he also answered to the music.

“This song? It’s okay, I’ve heard it before.”

“Not this one, I mean the one I was singing.”

Kongpop added further, causing the questioner to begin to recall.

Um… the songs he sang on stage, what songs did he sing, Doraemon, YMCA and that song… the last love song…

For some reason the thought of the lyrics and the sight of Kongpop’s shining eyes and smile, gave Arthit a strange feeling in his heart. He couldn’t explain it but just left a word and fled quickly.

“Heh…***.”

Kongpop wanted to laugh, because he already knew what Arthit would probably say.

…Phii Arthit is probably Phii Arthit, always so cruel and venomous, never caring about anyone’s feelings. But even so, he wanted to see Phii Arthit’s angry face, even before the Campus Moon and Star Contest started. It was then that he started to feel the real joy of winning the title of Campus Moon and Star but as soon as he started to talk about another topic, he was cut off again.

“Nong Kongpop, I’m a senior from the student club and I’d like to interview you.”

A big-eyed girl wearing glasses was shouting her request from a short distance away and Campus Moon and Star, who was trying to avoid the crowd, was found. In fact, Kongpop wanted to talk to Arthit but he fled so fast that he was already gone, leaving Kongpop unprepared for the interview.

“You got the title of Campus Moon and Star. How do you feel now?”

“Uh… I don’t know.”

Kongpop’s answer seemed to end the interview, so much so that the journalist had to jokingly lead him to answer.

“Meh, how could you not know? Aren’t you excited? Campus Moon and Star is like the moon in the sky and Miss Campus is like a star. Aren’t you happy to be paired with a star in the sky?”

Kongpop was poked by some of the words of the older sister, he was silent for a moment but he accidentally said the part of his heart that he disagreed with.

“But there’s more than just the moon and the stars in the sky.”

The other frowned, puzzled and asked.

“Huh? So what else is there?”

Kongpop smiled, his eyes gazing in the direction someone had just left and replied in a small voice, briefly.

“Secrets.”

And the meaning behind that answer, only one person knows.
